The product
What is Clockroll?
Clockroll is web software for small and medium businesses that records attendance, calculates variable pay such as commission and incentives from real events, and runs monthly payroll. A payroll run moves from draft to review to locked and produces payslips and a bank transfer file. It is made by Vexel Labs in Hyderabad, India.
Who is Clockroll for?
Clockroll is built for businesses with roughly 5 to 100 people in any kind of role: frontline and shift staff, hourly workers, field and sales teams, back office and people who work from home. It suits shops, clinics, salons, restaurants, agencies and field teams, especially where part of pay depends on sales, targets or hours.
How does Clockroll calculate commission and incentives?
Each sale or metric is recorded as an event, entered in Clockroll or sent by your other software through the API, and Clockroll applies the pay plans you define. Plans can pay commission with tiers and thresholds, split one sale between several workers, pay slabs for reaching a target, or pay a fixed amount per unit such as a delivery or a visit. The result is calculated on the server and shown to each worker as their earnings so far this month.
How do workers check in and out?
Workers check in and out from their phone in the Clockroll worker app, which records GPS location and can require a selfie as proof. Each location can have a geofence that is off, flags check-ins made outside it, or blocks them. Managers can also mark attendance for people without phones, and workers can request a correction for a missed punch.
Does Clockroll use face recognition?
No. When a business turns on selfie proof, Clockroll stores the photo with the check-in so a manager can review it, but it does not match faces or use biometrics.
Can workers see what they have earned?
Yes. The worker app shows each person their earnings so far this month, including commission and incentives, along with their attendance, leave balance, advances and payslips. Workers only ever see their own figures.
Does Clockroll work for office and work-from-home teams?
Yes. Clockroll is not tied to a shop floor: it handles monthly salaries built from components, leave policies, holidays, appraisals and payroll for back-office and remote staff as well as for frontline teams. Geofencing and selfies are optional settings, so remote staff can check in from anywhere when the business allows it.
Does Clockroll handle PF, ESI and professional tax?
Clockroll can calculate Indian PF, ESI and professional tax deductions in a payroll run when a business turns them on and enters its own rates, ceilings and slabs. It does not file returns or challans; you share the payroll register with your accountant or filing tool for that.
Does Clockroll pay salaries for me?
No. Clockroll calculates net pay, produces payslips and gives you a bank transfer file and payroll register, and you pay through your own bank. No money passes through Clockroll.
Can other software send sales to Clockroll?
Yes. Clockroll has a public API with per-business API keys, so a point-of-sale, booking or billing system can send sales and metric events, keep the worker list in sync and read each worker's earnings. Every event has its own id, so sending the same event twice never counts it twice.
Is there a Clockroll mobile app?
Workers use Clockroll as a web app on their phone, and it can be installed to the home screen like an app. Native iPhone and Android apps are coming soon.
Does Clockroll have time tracking with timesheets?
Not yet. Timers and weekly timesheets against projects and tasks, approved by a manager and feeding hourly pay, are coming soon. Today Clockroll tracks working time through check-in and check-out, shifts and overtime rules.
Pricing and plans
How much does Clockroll cost?
Clockroll is free for up to 5 workers, with every feature. Paid plans cost $12 a month for up to 20 workers, $29 for up to 50 and $59 for up to 100, then $0.60 per worker per month, plus any tax that applies in your country. Prices are shown in your local currency and set by your business's billing country.
Is Clockroll really free for up to 5 workers?
Yes. A business with up to 5 active workers can use every Clockroll feature on the free plan with no time limit and no card. You only move to a paid plan when you add more active workers than that.
Do paid plans have more features than the free plan?
No. Every Clockroll plan includes every feature, including the variable-pay engine, payroll, appraisals, the worker app and the API. The only difference between plans is how many active workers they cover.
Does the price depend on my country?
Yes. Clockroll shows prices in your local currency, and the price your business pays is set by its billing country at checkout, not by where you browse from. Businesses in India pay in rupees plus GST; businesses elsewhere pay in US dollars plus any tax that applies.
Do Clockroll prices include tax?
No. Clockroll prices exclude tax: Indian prices are shown plus GST, and other prices plus any tax that applies in your country, which is added at checkout.
Is there a discount for paying yearly?
Yes. Paying yearly costs the price of 10 months for 12 months of Clockroll, on every paid plan.
What does introductory pricing mean?
Introductory pricing is Clockroll's launch price list. Businesses that subscribe while it applies get a price lock at that price.
How do I pay for a paid plan?
Paid plans will be billed online from inside the Clockroll app, in rupees for businesses in India and in US dollars elsewhere. Online billing is coming soon, and every workspace starts on the free plan in the meantime.
