Attendance and time

Attendance that turns into paid days by itself

Check-ins from the phone, a register for people without one, and your own rules for late, half days and overtime — calculated into one clean day per worker that payroll can trust.

How do workers check in?

From their phone, in the Clockroll worker app. Each check-in and check-out records the time and GPS position. Each location can have a geofence with its own behaviour: off, flag (accept the check-in and mark it as outside) or block (refuse it).

You can require a selfie for the roles that need it. The photo is stored with the check-in for a manager to review. Clockroll does not use face recognition or any biometrics.

What about people without a smartphone?

Managers mark them in a daily register — present, half day, absent or off — for the whole team at once. A manual mark overrides the calculated status until it is cleared, so you are never fighting the system.

Who decides what counts as late or a half day?

You do. Set the default shift, grace minutes, the worked minutes below which a day becomes a half day or an absence, and whether overtime is counted. Clockroll then calculates each worker's day as present, half day, absent, weekly off, holiday or leave, with first in, last out, worked, late and overtime minutes.

When a worker has a rostered shift, the day is measured against that shift, including night shifts that cross midnight.

What if someone forgets to check out?

The day is flagged with a missing check-out, and the worker can send a correction (regularisation) request with the right times and a reason. Their manager approves or rejects it, and the day is recalculated.

How do holidays and weekly offs work?

Holidays can apply to the whole business or to one location, as full or half days. Weekly offs are set per worker, so a team that rotates days off is handled without workarounds. Working on an off day or holiday is recorded, and can earn comp-off or an off-day premium if you turn those on.

Where does attendance go next?

  • Paid days, including paid leave and holidays, feed payroll proration.
  • Worked and overtime minutes feed overtime pay; late minutes can feed late fines.
  • Locking a payroll run freezes that month's attendance so it cannot change underneath it.
