Variable pay and commission

Commission and incentives, calculated from real events

Every sale or metric is recorded once. Your rules — tiers, thresholds, splits, targets, per-unit rates, overtime and late fines — turn those events into pay, the same way every month.

What counts as an event?

A sale (an amount and a category in your own words, such as service or product) or a metric (any named number you track: visits, deliveries, calls, units). Events are entered in Clockroll or sent by your other software through the API.

Each event has its own id, so sending it twice never counts it twice, and a wrong event can be voided without editing anyone's pay by hand.

What kinds of commission can I set up?

A commission plan pays a percentage of sales, either per category or on total sales. Rates can step up in tiers, applied marginally (each slice at its own rate) or to the whole amount once a tier is reached.

A monthly threshold can be ignored, unlock commission on everything once it is met, or pay only on sales above it. Clockroll prescribes none of these — you choose for each plan.

Can two people share one sale?

Yes. An event can list several participants with a share each — say 60 and 40 percent. Each person's share counts toward their own tiers, thresholds and targets.

How do targets and KPI incentives work?

Set a target per worker per month for any metric or for sales. A KPI slab plan pays when achievement reaches the slabs you define — a fixed amount, or a percentage of the worker's salary. A per-unit plan pays an amount for each unit, optionally only after a minimum number.

Can different people have different rules?

Assign each plan to everyone, a department, a role type or one worker. Plans in the same group follow the most specific match, so a single person can have their own rate without a separate copy of the whole plan.

What about overtime, late fines and one-off amounts?

  • Overtime paid at a multiplier of the hourly rate, from attendance.
  • Late fines per instance, per minute, or both, with free instances if you want.
  • Off-day premium for working a weekly off or a holiday.
  • Manual lines for a spot award, a fine or a reimbursement.

Each one is a switch you turn on, with your own numbers.

Can workers see their commission?

Yes. The worker app shows each person what they have earned so far this month, with every plan's breakdown. All the maths runs on the server; the app only displays the result.
